Bradford Metropolitan District Council

In 1974, City Of Bradford Metropolitan District Council was created to administer the newly formed metropolitan borough.  The Council, which is based at Bradford City Hall in Centenary Square, governs the whole metropolitan district.

Vision and Priorities

Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s vision and priorities are set out in ‘The Big Plan’, which is their Sustainable Community Strategy.

By 2020 Bradford will be a vibrant, prosperous, creative, peaceful, diverse and inclusive place where people are proud of their shared values, and work together to secure this vision for future generations.

  • We will transform our economy by regenerating the district, and improve education and skills in ways which increase everyone’s life-chances.
  • By 2020 people will be proud of where they live, learn, work and play. Our beautiful buildings and landscapes will be cherished. The district will draw strength from its diversity.
  • Improving skills at all levels to meet the needs of business and build a knowledge economy is one of three overarching priorities for the district.
